About KCC Southeast Hillsborough County Elementary Campus

Kid's Community College® Southeast County (KCC-SE), was approved by the School District in December, adding a fifth Kid's Community College® campus in Riverview and will follow the International Baccalaureate PYP programme of study, seeking IB Organization authorization upon its date of eligibility. IB programmes promote the education of the whole person, emphasizing intellectual, personal, emotional and social growth through all domains of knowledge. By focusing on the dynamic combination of knowledge, skills, independent critical and creative thought and international-mindedness, the IB espouses the principle of educating the whole person for a life of active, responsible citizenship. Currently, Hillsborough County only offers two IB PYP schools and there are only a total of 24 IB PYP programmes in the entire state. KCC-SE will be open to all elementary school learners in Hillsborough County whose families embrace a global, academically rigorous, and internationally minded curriculum. The campus will focus on the whole child and strive to guide students in a manner that will enable them to become life-long learners and internationally minded citizens. By the end of the program, PYP students will exemplify all of the attributes of the PYP Learner Profile. Part of being an IB student in the KCC-SE environment means embracing the IB philosophy - students who are:

  • Inquirers: Their natural curiosity has been nurtured. They have acquired the skills necessary to conduct purposeful, constructive research. They actively enjoy inquiry based learning.
  • Reflective: They give thoughtful consideration to their own learning and analyze their personal strengths and weaknesses in a constructive manner.
  • Principled: They have integrity, honesty and a sense of fairness and justice.
  • Open-minded: They respect the views, values and traditions of other individuals and cultures.
  • Knowledgeable: They will spend time in our schools exploring themes which have global relevance and importance.
  • Communicators: They receive and express ideas and information confidently in more than one language, including the language of mathematical symbols.
  • Caring: They show sensitivity towards the needs and feelings of others. They have a sense of personal commitment to action and service.
  • Well-Balanced: They understand the importance of physical and mental balance and personal well-being.
  • Risk-takers: They approach unfamiliar situations without anxiety and have the confidence and independence of spirit to explore new roles, ideas and strategies.
  • Thinkers: They exercise initiative in applying thinking skills critically and creatively to make sound decisions and solve complex problems.

During and after being authorized as an IB school, we will develop internationally minded students that can successfully matriculate into middle (MYP) and high school (IB Diploma) programs. The new prek-5th grade Southeast IB modeled campus will only admit 108 families in its first year, increasing enrollment to a maximum of 348 students by year three. A VPK program will also be offered for prekindergarten students. Open enrollment for the campus has begun and is expected to be highly competitive. Parents interested in enrolling are encouraged to apply early by REGISTERING NOW. Parents may also stop by the Riverview Elementary Campus at 10530 Lake Saint Charles Blvd., Riverview, FL 33578 for more information. Interested educators can apply online at www.kidscc.org/careers.
