Voluntary Pre-Kindergarten (VPK)

A supplemental part of our Undergraduate Program is our VPK offering. Kid's Community College families can choose either a School-Year or Summer VPK Program.

The main feature of Florida's VPK program is to help all parents to have their children enrolled in a pre school program by paying three hours of care. The Voluntary Pre-Kindergarten program is designed to help Florida children develop the skills they need to become good readers and successful students.

The Kid's Community College VPK program includes is a high-quality program, rich in literacy with high academic standards, strict accountability, appropriate curricula, substantial instruction periods, small class sizes and qualified early educators. The Kid's Community College VPK program meets all and exceeds most of the State's VPK requirements in most areas.

Summer VPK Program

Any child that lives in Florida and turned four years old on or before September 1, 2005, is eligible for the Summer VPK Program as long as they did not previously participate in the school-year VPK program.* The Summer program consists of 300 instructional hours and is all-inclusive..

School-Year VPK Program

Early Learning Coalitions administer the Voluntary Pre-Kindergarten program at the local level, register providers and provide applications and information to parents. You may pre-apply for the VPK program at www.vpkflorida.org. Parents are encouraged to check the website periodically for updates. Once you complete the pre-application, your local early learning coalition will contact you for further information and to assist you in completing the application process. If you have any questions, you can find the contact information for your local coalition by clicking on the link "Where do I go for VPK information in my area?" and selecting the county in which you live.

Above all, we provide a warm, loving and nurturing learning environment where every student will celebrate diversity and feel happy and accepted. Our Professors create early educational experiences that nurture, encourage and foster learning by interacting with students in a loving and attentive fashion. The collaborative effort between and among Professors and parents is established from the onset of an student's tenure at Kid's Community College. Students are assessed and an Individual Development and Education Plan (IDEP) is created for each child - setting personalized goals for each student based on their individual needs. The IDEP is updated regularly and planned parent conferences are scheduled quarterly to ensure that every area of your child's development is being addressed.
