It takes little effort to understand and acknowledge that children benefit from parent, community and faculty involvement in their development.
The Kid's Community College® Campus Parent Advisory Board (CPA) was established by administration, campus professors and parents to further the KCC mission of excellence in care giving, academics and the overall campus experience provided for our children. We understand that no matter how much or how little time we have, our extra contribution matters and goes a long way in providing that something extra for our children. In our book, the children come first.
Research shows that when both faculty and parents are involved, students achieve more. The most accurate predictor of a student's achievement in school is not income or social status, but the extent to which that student's family is able to:
- Create a home environment that encourages learning and nurturing.
- Create high, yet reasonable, expectations for their children's achievement.
- Develop knowledge of how their children function in the school environment by becoming involved in their children's education at school and in the community.
The CPA Board meets monthly to discuss upcoming campus events and activities, fundraisers and opportunities to make our learning environment better. While board membership is limited to 7 student families, there are many committees available for everyone to become involved with. Each school year, beginning in August, board membership will be open for enrollment. Acceptance is on a first come basis.
