Our Before School Club begins at 6:45 am. Students will have the opportunity to play cooperative board games or participate in quiet games as they prepare to start their day in a positive manner. Parents may sign students up to receive small group reading tutoring (1:6) from 7:30a-8:00a or 8:00a-8:30a.
The crux of the ICFL program is the After School Club, which is comprised of 4 learning and developmental areas:
Homework Club - The staff will assist in the students in homework assignments and provide skill development with mini-lessons, games or co-operative challenges. Supplemental Educational Services are provided to allow tutoring to students who need extra support. Students will be able to work on self-paced computer programs that continue to reinforce basic skills, work in grade-level cooperative learning groups, or work with a one-on-one teacher to complete homework assignments.
*Supplemental Service Programming may incur an additional fee for intense, direct instruction.
Sports Club - Friendly competition, sportsmanship and peer encouragement are found at the heart of this club. The primary focus is on teaching foundational level sports with an appreciation for the bodily/kinesthetic and spatial skills of the students. Through the physical experience of strength, coordination, suppleness, and stamina, intra/interpersonal development (
social skills) of the student is reinforced through interaction with others through communication, caring, respect and sharing. Also promoted are the areas of logical and critical thinking skills through gaming strategies, cooperative problem solving, sport formations and patterns of movement and intellectual games.
These capacities are cultivated through instruction in the following sport disciplines: USTA sponsored Tennis Instruction, Softball, Basketball, Flag Football, Golf, Soccer and Track and Field.
Values of respect for ability and diversity are reinforced through stretching and strengthening exercises, balancing exercises and multicultural games which will tie in to the program theme of the week.
Health Club - Children and parents alike benefit from a healthier lifestyle. The Health Club will provide students with tangible evidence that a higher quality of life is attainable through proper nutrition and physical conditioning. Students will be encouraged to pursue and maintain a lifestyle and routine of physical activity and nutritional respect, while providing them with the tools and knowledge they need to stay healthy.
Art and Music Club - This club creates enthusiasm for the arts and social and personal growth for children. Our art and music club gives students an opportunity to participate in a drama troupe and performance choir and will expose them to various musical instruments and art projects.
ICFL is an inclusive program which includes breakfast, snacks, transportation and most field trips.
